Build Self-esteem

Research shows kids with ADHD are much more likely to suffer from low self-esteem.  We can help.

Learn more.

A study by The National Institutes of Health found that most kids with ADHD have lower self-esteem in general and “showed significantly higher rates” of “pathologically” low self-esteem.

It’s easy to see why. Kids with ADHD endure a stream of repeated small failures at school and home that is constantly eroding self-esteem. Fortunately, the opposite is also true – children develop positive self-esteem by experiencing repeated successes.

Raise Confidence

Armed with the tools they need to be successful, now your kids will have the confidence to do more.

Learn more.

While self-esteem is about being happy with who you are, confidence is believing that you can succeed. The best way to build confidence is to actually experience success in achieving goals and getting positive reinforcement for doing so. Using iGotThis, parents can start out with a small set of goals (e.g. brush your teeth before bed every night) that allows kids to be successful out of the gate, and then build on those achievements over time.

The app also has a built in “gamification” system where kids earn badges for achieving certain milestones (like successfully completing 10 tasks on time), that further reinforces confidence.

Stay on Top of Things

Parents can choose to be notified when things happen (or don’t happen) that they want to know about.

Learn more.

If you hear yourself constantly saying things like “Didja clean your room?”, “Didja do your homework?”, “Didja take out the trash?”, then you may be suffering from “Didjatitus”. This syndrome inflicts many parents of kids with ADHD. All kidding aside, what your kids hear is: “You were supposed to do this thing, but I doubt that you remembered to do it.” and that’s not healthy. Fortunately, there is a cure for “Didjatitus”. iGotThis provides a proactive alert system for parents so you can stay on top of things from afar. Parents have the option, on a task-by-task basis, to be notified when that task is started, completed, and/or missed.

Stop Nagging

Are you tired of hearing yourself nagging at your kids?  Give them their own personal assistant instead.

Learn more.

“You need to clean your room”, “You need to do your homework”, “You need to take out the trash”. Nagging isn’t just tiresome and frustrating for both you and your kids, it’s also destructive to their self-esteem and studies show it can actually worsen behavior instead of improving it. There is a better way. Celebrities have personal assistants who keep them on track so these stars can focus on being, well, stars. Give your kids the same benefit. Give them a personal assistant to help keep track of things so they can focus on being awesome.

Reward Effort

And success. Your kids learn that effort is rewarded and so is success and its all managed for you.

Learn more.

The iGotThis solution has a built in rewards system that parents can configure to meet their needs. If you want to reward “effort” by giving points for just starting a task you can do that. If you only want to give points for finishing a task on time, you can do that too. Parents can assign points only for specific tasks and then specifically for starting a task, starting on time, finishing, and finishing on time. It’s totally up to you.

Additionally, parents can create their own menu of rewards that kids are able to redeem (and parents approve of course) through the app. You can set up any kind of reward you like, such as choosing what’s for dinner, a new video game, or even cash – it’s totally configurable by you! Kids can see their point totals and decide what they want to work toward and budget their points accordingly. When they’re ready to redeem their points, they use the app to submit a request. When the request is approved, the points are automatically deducted from their account. It just doesn’t get any easier.

Not Just for ADHD

Even kids without ADHD can benefit from iGotThis. Parents can oversee the whole family with iGotThis.

After having learned more about iGotThis, you may be thinking that this might be useful for any kids, not just those with ADHD. You would be right. While iGotThis was designed for exceptional kids, it’s also designed to work for every kid in the family. As a parent, you can set up projects, tasks, and/or checklists for all your kids. You can even set up tasks that are assigned to multiple kids (and even spouses!).

We designed iGotThis with the whole family in mind, including parents. The truth is that almost everyone could use some help staying on top of things in today’s world and that is especially true of adults. Not only can parents use all the standard features of iGotThis, we also included “Planning Wizards” to set up common tasks like planning for holidays, important events, and important projects in your life. This is going to be a community area where other users can also submit plans that can be shared with others.

“It’s actually my son that is very interested. He couldn’t wait to show his Dad. 🙂 …he came rushing, “Momma, Daddy didn’t even make it all the way through the video before he said he thinks we should do it!” …we agreed that when your child, that has ADHD, shows interest in something that could have a positive impact in his productivity and give him control over his progress, you don’t hesitate, you follow that child’s lead and support them in what they want to do”

Fail-safe Reminders

Unignorable, repeating reminders to start tasks, and “focus alerts” to remind them of what they should be working on until it is completed.

Learn more

Say goodbye to “I forgot” or “I got distracted”.  Say goodbye to nagging.

Say hello to a personal assistant for your kid.

Self-esteem is built on repeated success. As the parent of an ADHD kid, you know how easily they get distracted and that they need repeated reminders to get started on a task and to stay focused until it’s completed. Parents can set up these reminders for “Heads Up” notifications that a scheduled task is coming up, “Time to Start” notifications when a task is due (or past due) to start, and “Focus Alerts” that remind kids what they should be focused on until the task is marked as complete. Parents can even choose if they want to allow a task to be skipped/rescheduled by the user or if they must complete it to make the notifications stop. Best of all, these reminders are designed to be received even when the mobile app is closed.

Hey, celebrities have personal assistants to keep them on track – doesn’t your kid deserve one too?

Real-time Oversight

No nagging needed! Parents can get real-time alerts when kids begin and complete tasks, or if they don’t start a task on time.

Learn more

From the living room to the boardroom to the weight room, parents now have real-time visibility into what their kids are doing, wherever they may be.

Parents can tune the system so that they’re sent notifications when tasks are started or completed. They can also get alerts when a task is missed.

Why is this important? Because kids need independence, not interrogations. When the “didjas” start up, kids shut down. “Didja clean your room?”, “Didja take out the garbage?”. It’s not just nagging – it’s nagging wrapped in distrust. It says to them: “I know you were supposed to do this, but I don’t think you did”.

With iGotThis, you can now have the ability to “trust, but verify” that they are doing what they should.

Rewards

Motivation built in! Kids can earn tokens for starting and completing tasks (and bonus tokens for doing it on time) and redeem them for parent managed rewards right in the app.

Learn more

iGotThis provides a built-in rewards system that lets you up the game on motivating your kids. We recognize that every family has different philosophies about using rewards and that each kid is motivated by different things. Because of this, we’ve designed the rewards system to be very flexible and easy for parents to manage. The system allows parents to award kids a specific number of tokens when the child starts a task, finishes a task, starts a task on time, and/or finishes a task on time. This gives parents the ability to start off focusing on the effort, then move to focusing on the outcome later, if they choose.

Tokens that kids earn are then redeemed for rewards in the app. Parents again have the flexibility to set up a menu of rewards to choose from, each with a specific token price. Kids can earn intangible things like “Choose what’s for dinner” or “See a Movie” or tangible rewards like gift cards, video games, or even cash if that’s what works for your child.

Badges

Kids earn badges as they level up in the system by achieving milestones, such as completing 100 tasks on time!

Learn more
In addition to rewards, the system also provides achievement “badges” when kids hit certain milestones in the system. For example, when they complete 100 tasks, they earn the “Centurion” badge.
Badges provide a fun way for your kids to see how they are “leveling up” in their lives, further building their self-esteem and providing motivation for them to continue working hard.

Inspiration

In-app “ADDitives” give kids and parents positive messaging about ADHD, reminding them it’s a superpower, not a deficit.
Learn more

“ADDitives” are our way to inspire parents and kids and remind them that ADHD is a superpower, not a “deficit” or a “disorder”. Unless you opt-out (which you can always choose to do), you and your kids will get semi-regular messages via email and/or in-app notifications that provide inspirational messages, links to articles, profiles of important people with ADHD, etc.

Location Based Reminders

Get reminders based on where you are. Be reminded to pick up your dry-cleaning when you are near the dry cleaners!
Learn more
iGotThis allows parents to set up “Places” – a convenient feature that lets users be reminded of tasks that are associated with a specific location, even before that task is due. For example, if you need to pick up your prescription by Friday but want to be reminded to pick it up earlier if you happen to be near the pharmacy, now you can do that.
Parents can create up to 20 locations per family, to monitor and set up how far away from each location you want to be notified. You can set up locations for School, Home, Work, Grocery Store, Dry Cleaners, or any other place you choose by simply entering an address or putting a pin on a map. Then simply associate any task you create with that place and you will be reminded about it when you are near-by, regardless of the task start date. It doesn’t get any easier!

Projects and Checklists

Organize related tasks into projects you can track from one place and add check lists to tasks to make sure everything gets done.

Learn more
Divide and Conquer. iGotThis provides multi-level task organization allowing you to split big projects into a series of tasks (which can be assigned to other family members) and then split those tasks into a series of subtasks in the form of a checklist.
Let’s say you’re planning a family vacation. You can assign different family members different tasks, such as “Making airline reservations” or “Pack suitcases”. Want to make sure the kids remember their swimsuits? You can break the “Pack Suitcases” task down into a series of sub-tasks like “Pack shorts and t-shirts” and “Pack swimsuit”. When all the subtasks are checked off, the task is complete. When all the tasks are complete, the project is complete.  And you can track it all, from top to bottom, on the web or mobile apps. It’s project management for your family!

Planning Wizards

Busy parents will appreciate a set of guided wizards to walk you through setting up your own plans for common life tasks such as holidays.
Learn more
A special feature many busy adults will appreciate, iGotThis provides Planning Wizards to walk you through setting up yearly plans for many of life’s common events. For example, you can run the “US Holidays” Planning Wizard which will ask you a series of questions and help you plan ahead. Are you going to celebrate Valentines Day? Are you going out to dinner? Then you’d better make your restaurant reservations by November to make sure you get a table! And don’t forget to buy a present, pick up some fresh-cut flowers, and take your clothes to the cleaners.
Wizards are also available for “Important People” (birthdays / anniversaries / keep in touch reminders for family and friends), “Life as we Know It” (car maintenance, household maintenance, taxes, etc.) with more being added regularly. We’ll also be soliciting our user community for the wizards that you want. We’re also considering a Community Wizards area where people can create and share their special interests wizards (e.g. “Vacation to Paris”).

What's Next?

Well, that’s up to you! Since iGotThis is a community as well as a solution, we’ll be asking our members to guide us to the new features they want. Here are a few things we have on our radar for future releases:

  • Integration with Home Assistants – Allow family members to ask Amazon Echo or Google Home what the status is of specific tasks for specific users (“Has Alex finished cleaning his room?”), hear about upcoming tasks (“What is the next task for Alex today?”), or check off tasks (“Mark task ‘Clean Bedroom’ as complete for Alex”).

  • ADHD Coaches and Doctors and Teachers (oh my!) – Allow parents to invite others into their family so that those new “family members” can see how kids are doing, make suggestions, or even add and manage their own tasks. For example, an ADHD Coach can view dashboards about clients or teachers can set up a project for an upcoming science fair with tasks that need to be completed by specific dates.
  • Hyper Local Reminders – Use beacon technology in the home to remind kids (or parents!) to do a specific task in a specific location.  For example, as your kid passes the laundry room, he may get a message on his phone to “Put away your clean laundry”.
  • Smart Tasks – The system will make suggestions on changes to existing tasks or even recommend new tasks by utilizing machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms that analyze the user’s task history and other user information. Note: fear not – we will never use or share your personal data without your permission. We value our privacy and we value yours as well. You can learn more about this in our Privacy Policy.
